Scrub up!

I adore bath and body products and I'm a long time lover of body scrubs. They make your skin look and feel so alive and healthy! Scrubs remove the build-up of dead skin to reveal the smooth fresh skin underneath and scrubs that have an oil base moisturize the new skin at the same time. Giving yourself a scrub helps to stimulate your lymphatic system to promote drainage and also helps to remove toxins and improve blood flow to the skin. You want to glow? Have a little scrub.
Don't over scrub though! Too much of a good thing and all that.
Salt scrubs and sugar scrubs both feel delicious and are a wonderful way to pamper yourself after a long day or for no reason at all. We never need a reason for some self-care, right?

Anything you put on your skin is going to be absorbed into your skin, so always choose the best quality products and ingredients that you can. I've become more aware lately of the ingredients in the products I use and i'm starting to make choices to reduce or eliminate ones with harmful ingredients.

Lush and Etsy are two great places to find better quality skincare products. There are organic, natural and or vegan options available and if you know of any other great chemical free body products, please let me know!
Below I included the 'recipe' for a simple, three ingredient salt scrub I made. Feel free to change the recipe based on your skin type or the herbs that you prefer. Try lavender and grapeseed oil or mix in additional oils and essential oils*  or even some natural food colour if that will make it more fun for you. Maybe you can make scrubs to match your bathroom decor or a friend's wedding colours or team colours or...?

*Practice care when using essential oils.

Rosemary Olive Oil Scrub

You will need:
A few Sprigs of fresh Rosemary (organic if you can find it)
1/2 cup sea salt
1/4 cup olive oil (more if you like an oilier scrub)
Glass jar/ container to store it

In a bowl smash the rosemary with the back of a spoon and add the sea salt. Mix to infuse the salt with the rosemary smell and to break up the sprigs some more.
I added the olive oil slowly till it looked like a salt scrub. Add more oil if you prefer an oilier scrub, less if you like a drier, grainy scrub.

To Use:
Wet skin with warm water, scoop a handful of scrub and apply to skin using either swirling motions or up down motions.
Rinse.

You might not wanna use this on freshly shaved legs and definitely not on open wounds youch!
Store extra in a glass jar/container. Or make a double batch and share some with a friend. In the picture above I used a plastic container. I didn't know then what I know now about plastics so try to use glass or ceramic instead, if you can.

Light some good quality candles and play some calming music. Take deep cleansing breaths and enjoy your home spa night with your new, natural, homemade scrub.
